Birds and ‘things with wings’ were the theme of this year’s annual walking Treasure Hunt around Emsworth on 4th July. It was a very hot evening as five teams set out from the Museum on a quest to find sculptures of motifs of swans, owls, ducks and kingfishers. ‘Things with wings’ included golden dragons displayed on pubs, an heraldic phoenix and even two archangels (these were the names on a dentists’ practice sign in the Square). They were all answers to the clues set by last year’s winners, Team Rennie. Many of the participants were regulars to this fun event, All the quizzers were welcomed back at the Museum with tea/squash and biscuits and given a chance to chat and rest while the papers were checked, timed and the scores calculated.
The results were very close indeed this year and the winners by just half a mark were The Terries, the team consisting of Terry Stubbington and Jo Rowlands. Congratulations, and we look forward to another testing route designed by them next year.
