Best Western Tiverton Hotel (3 star) is situated in 2½ acres of garden on the edge of the market town of Tiverton. All bedrooms have TV, telephone, free Wi fi, hairdryer and hospitality tray.

Day 1
After joining your coach in Emsworth, we travel to Montacute House (National Trust – entrance not included). This magnificent 416-year-old home is a masterpiece of Elizabethan renaissance architecture. A stroll around Montacute House offers a glimpse of historic interiors, beautiful furniture and fantastic portraits. Enjoy freshly prepared home cooked food, from seasonal lunches and freshly baked cakes to homemade soup & sandwiches in the Courtyard Café. We depart mid-afternoon and make our way to our hotel in Tiverton.

Day 2
After breakfast we travel to Exeter where a local red coat guide will join the coach for a 60-minute guided tour of this Cathedral city, giving an overview of key historical sites, including a visit to Exeter’s Historic Quayside and the University Campus, finishing with a 30-minute walk and talk of Cathedral Close. We have free time for lunch before we have a tour of Exeter’s Underground Medieval vaulted passageways.

Day 3
This morning we visit the Tiverton Museum of Mid-Devon Life, to trace the fascinating history of Mid Devon. The displays include the ‘Tivvy Bumper’ GWR steam engine, local industries (particularly lace making), farm waggons and the history of agriculture, and the everyday home life of Mid Devon folk. After lunch, we make our way to the Grand Western Canal, where we enjoy a delightful horse-drawn cruise with an included cream tea.

Day 4
Departing our hotel after breakfast we travel to Bishops Lydeard to join Britain’s longest standard gauge heritage railway for a twenty-mile journey winding along the Exmoor Coast and through the Quantock Hills. We arrive at Minehead where we have time for lunch before we meet our coach and begin our journey home. We arrive back to the local area late afternoon.
