SUMMARY:Talk - Portsmouth 4 – The final chapter
DESCRIPTION:Andrew Negus will present this final chapter of his series on Portsmouth covering the period from the 1930s. We will hear about Portsmouth’s sewage system\, Portsmouth’s moment of glory winning the FA Cup in 1939 and then how looking after the FA Cup nearly ended in disaster due to German bombing. Portsmouth suffered enormously during the Second World War\, with some 40\,000 buildings damaged or destroyed\, including the Guildhall where the FA Cup was held. Despite the destruction\, the Germans never succeeded in blowing up the enormous oil tanks buried under Portsdown Hill. \n\n\n\n\n\nAndrew Negus\, retired history teacher and Blue Badge guide for central southern England

SUMMARY:Exhibition - Margaret Pole and Warblington Castle
DESCRIPTION:Note\, this exhibition will not be available on April 25th and 26th nor May 2nd-4th whilst Emsworth Arts Trail is exhibiting. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition traces the tumultuous life of Margaret Pole Countess of Salisbury (14 August 1473 – 27 May 1541).  In 1517\, Margaret commissioned the building of Warblington Castle\, Hampshire\, which would become her principal seat. \n\n\n\nThe destruction of Warblington Castle during the Civil War and its subsequent use as a quarry in the 18th century have left us with a very incomplete picture of what her castle might have been like.     Using 16th century records\, the exhibition shows how spectacular the castle would have once been.    Margaret Pole’s Chantry and Chapel in Christchurch Priory gives us a glimpse of the standard of living to which she was accustomed. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is open: \n\n\n\nSaturdays and Bank Holidays 10:30am to 4:30pm \n\n\n\nSundays 1:30pm to 4:30pm \n\n\n\n\n\nChantry and Chapel\, Christchurch Priory

SUMMARY:Exhibition - Nic Cowper for the Emsworth Arts Trail
DESCRIPTION:We welcome the return of Nic Cowper exhibiting in the Emsworth Museum as part of the Esmworth Arts Trail – Venue 34. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNic’s art occupies a vibrant space between observation and imagination — where watercolour and energy fuse into something expressive and meditative. Pushing beyond watercolour’s traditional delicacy we find reality reconstructed through vibrant gesture and colour.
