Exhibition – 100 Years of Faithful Service
May 25 @ 10:30 AM – June 30 @ 4:30 PM
Two Churches – One Parish
What was life like in Emsworth a hundred years ago ?
The “100 Years of Faithful Service” exhibition commemorates the centenary of two parishes uniting.
It features photographs, documents and artefacts relating to people, events and buildings in Warblington and Emsworth over the last century.
Learn about the parishes and rectors of 1924. Discover some of the history of the area from a timeline, historic maps, documentation and images. Reminisce on past events and people in the churches and observe how active they are today. Reflect on the differences and similarities between 1924 and 2024.
There will also be panels displaying photographs of Emsworth in the 1920s. Some old photographs will show remarkable similarities. Others may be of localities now unrecognisable. Old maps will be on display too. There will be a timeline which features mainly local events and visits of well-known personalities.
A folder of memories of baptisms and weddings will be on display. Some of the mysterious workings of the Church of England will be revealed.
Our aim is to present a snapshot of local life a hundred years ago, reveal how it has changed and show what is happening now in our historic churches.”
An exhibition led by Gordon Braddock
