Box for oysters

Wooden box in excellent condition, 25 cm long x 15.5 cm in height x 14.2 cm in depth. It comprises four side panels nailed to the side panels with four nails. The base comprises two panels nailed to the front, back and side panels with ten nails. The base panels are so arranged that there is a 15 mm longitudinal gap between the two. Half way across the upper level is a wooden piece between the front and back panels acting as a handle. It is held to those panels through two pieces of angled iron affixed by two nails. One of the upper corners has a small split in the wood. On the front and rear of the long side is 'R. RIPLEY SHELLFISH MERCHANT EMSWORTH HAMPSHIRE' and on the side is 'OYSTERS' twice on each side. This in black is faded.
