Exercise book with a blue cover and a paper sticker on the front with ' First List of Men, 1914'. The main body of pages is detached from the blue cover. The first page provides a street index. These are Bath Road, Beach Road, Bridge Road, Bridgefoot Lane, Church Path, Ford's Road, The Gardens, Havant Road, High Street & Square, Horndean Road, King Street, New Brighton Road, Nile Street, North Street, Orange Row, Park Crescent and Record Road, Queen Street, Sea Side, Southleigh Road, South Street, Sultan Road, Tower Street, Victoria Road, West Street, Westbourne Avenue, Address not known.
There then follows lists of names under each street which service they joined, where they were sent and what befell them. Some of course were listed as RIP.
Towards the end of the book is an alphabetical list of surnames featured.
