Title
Crop weight
Description
A stone used as a known weight to check the mass of harvested crops. This is a crucial factor in agricultural production and trade, impacting yield calculations, market prices and storage requirements. A bushel is the unit most commonly used in agriculture. Due to their different densities a bushel of corn is 56 lbs whilst a bushel of wheat is 60 lbs. This stone probably weighs near one of those weights although it appears to have been in water for a while due to its extensively pitted surface. 17 cm x 11 cm (at its mid-point). A hole has been drilled into the top.
