Iron Pump

Description

Iron Pump (in 2 pieces) standing 75 cm in height. Comprises a long curved handle known as the force rod affixed to a double fitting on top of the main column or cylinder about which it pivots. Also attached to the force rod is a piston which enters the top of the cylinder. At the end of this is the piston which is fitted with a sealing O-ring. The base of the unit would have a longer pipe that went down into the water supply below ground.

The manufacturers name is stamped on the pump. It is difficult to read but may be RENSHAW as of W.R. Renshaw & Co of Phoenix Works, Stoke on Trent. It was known as a Lion pump as evidenced by lion stamp with the word LION.
