Description

Forty-five letters written by George Borsberry RN to his Wife Violet. Violet Borsberry (nee Hedgcock) and her baby lived at 19 Victoria Road, Emsworth. George Borsberry, Petty Office Cook was serving on board HMS Hood and perished along with 1414 of his ship mates when HMS Hood was sunk by the Bismarck on 24th May 1941 during the Battle of the Denmark Strait. Also included are fourteen notes of condolence.
